Deniz Tümerdem / Ahmet Onkaş
DataBLOSSOM is a pattern generation investigation project which is responsive to real-time data.
-Creating a semi-regular tessellation with octagons and isosceles triangles from a truncated square grid.
-Defining control points on circles with various diameters.
-Applying transformation rules like a mirror, array polar, the regular pattern is obtained. The pattern is composed of flowers with eight petals and eight inner petals.
All the formation rules are parameterized so as the pattern.
-Control points of the flowers change throughout the tesselation accordingly to the defined attractors & parameters.
-Embedding data, like movement, weather, solar analysis, airplanes takeoff, and landings, etc the pattern is altered. This can be implemented to passive or kinetic systems.
-The final system proposed is a kinetic pattern wall. Flower petals are connected to the electronic system composed of servomotors & leds & ultrasonic sensor. With the data gathered from the sensor, motors rotate, opening and closing the petals.
