Nature Inspired Pattern
Dilan Özkan
The project aims to produce a generative surface that consists of a single component. The initial geometry that forms the main component is Narcomedusae [a group of jellyfish]. Through the analysis and regeneration of the jellyfish geometry, a new pattern arises. Although the new form seems organic and growing naturally, it is controlled and shaped by artificial rules.
There are 4 layers of arcs, formed within 30 angle slice, create the whole outer circles. There are 2 layers of arcs, formed within 45 angle slice, shapes the whole inner circles. The combination of 6 circles, from the same center point, compose the whole Nature Inspired Pattern component. The arrangement of nature inspired pattern component into Delaunay triangulation generates a surface.
The combination of nature-inspired pattern turns into a generative artwork. The composition of numerous cellular components can function as an installation, an ornamental wall structure for external use or a pavilion in bigger scale.
